The Man-Chung Tang Scholarship was initiated with personal funding from Man-Chung Tang, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of T.Y. Lin International. Part of the funds also come from donations by T.Y. Lin International and its employees. The scholarship aims to support outstanding high school graduates from economically disadvantaged families in realizing their dream of attending university.

After each year's college entrance examination, Man-Chung Tang receives a list of eligible students from the Chongqing Youth Development Foundation. After reviewing the applications, 30 students are selected for interviews. The finalists participate in two days of discussions and presentations, after which rankings are determined. In 2024, for instance, the top six students will receive scholarships ranging from 44,000 to 49,000 yuan over four years, while the other 25 will each receive an 8,000-yuan scholarship.

Man-Chung Tang is personally involved throughout the selection process, carefully reviewing candidates to ensure that the scholarships are awarded responsibly. Since its establishment in 2007, the scholarship has provided more than 6 million yuan to 500 outstanding university students across the city.

Man-Chung Tang hopes the students will continue to work hard, excel in their studies, maintain good health, and enjoy their lives, eventually thriving in their respective fields and living happy, fulfilling lives.
